PROFILE
Kenta Okamoto was born in Kyoto, Japan, in 1989. I received the BArch from Kobe University, and the MFA from Musashino Art University’s Graduate School. I live and work in Kyoto.

In my recent projects, such as Terraform(2017-2019), Stellarium(2019) and Nano(2019-2020), I took photographs of images displayed on my PC screen.

These days, a lot of people watch their screen like a smartphone and a PC for a long time. So it is easy to imagine that the Screen Time is longer than the Real Time.
We can touch a landscape separated by time and space literally. That’s why I thought it was a natural thing like my destiny decided from the beginning when I pointed my digital camera at my PC screen for the first time.

I don’t want to waste limited energy such as fuel, money and time any more. Then, I feel it is an unexplored frontier where has abundant resources.
And I get excited thinking about a screen is used like a window or a gate to the other side.
I don’t think it is good because I take a photograph of an image on my PC screen or a huge archive of the Internet. It’s just fun because I feel like finding a loophole like a wormhole. There is only a simple curiosity.
